The main coverage included in recreational vehicle insurance are comprehensive and collision, liability, and under/uninsured insurance.
Comprehensive and collision insurance
Comprehensive and collision insurance covers any physical damage on the recreational vehicle itself. The comprehensive insurance covers theft, falling objects, vandalism, and other physical damages that are not collisions.
Collision insurance covers the physical damage caused by hitting a fixed object , a vehicle or wild life.
Liability
Liability will pay the sums that you become legally obligated to pay as “compensatory damages” because of “bodily injury” or “property damage” to which the insurance applies.
Liability insurance is intended to cover damages that the recreational vehicle caused to someone or somebody’s property. The property insured ranges from the vehicle to anything else that your recreational vehicle may have ruined.
Underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage
This is insurance for if the other party involved in the accident is uninsured or does not have enough to cover the damage. It often acts like an extension of liability coverage.
Total loss replacement
If the recreational vehicle is involved in an accident and damaged beyond repair, insurance covers you for a new recreational vehicle. If the recreational vehicle was more than five years old, you receive the amount the vehicle was declared for on your policy minus the deductibles.
You can also opt not to replace the vehicle but instead get reimbursed for the original cost of the vehicle.
