3) When it is safe you should make temporary repairs and take other steps to protect your property from further damage. Save receipts from the repairs and submit them to us for consideration. Some situations may include:
a) Temporary repairs to roof coverings.
b) Cleanup and drying of water from basements after water escape or sewer back up.
c) Boarding up of doors or windows after a fire.
d) Securing doors or windows after a break in.
4) If it is safe to do so, take a good look around your property and make a note of any structural damage on all out buildings on your property.
5) Do not dispose of damaged items. The adjuster may want to see them. Make detailed lists of all damaged. If possible describe where and when you bought the item and its purchase price.
6) You should obtain detailed written repair estimates from reliable, licensed and bonded contractors. The estimate should clearly detail what labour and material are needed.
